About Us

An investment company built for South Africa's transformation economy.

Imvelo is a South African venture capital investment company, constituted on 25 February 2019. It was established by Empowerment Capital Investment Partners as a substantive, long-term venture capital investment company backing black-owned and transformation-aligned technology businesses.

We take minority equity stakes in early-stage companies, bring experienced directors onto their boards, and provide active operational support where it matters. We do not charge fees to our investees. Our capital is patient — we have no predefined exit horizon — and our conviction is that strong commercial outcomes and genuine transformation are fully compatible.

Our sector focus is technology businesses that fit into the ecosystem of any major financial institution: fintech, payments, logistics, software, and digital services.
